Released in the year 1975 (many WNSO members were yet to born), India's first 70 mm movie, ran for five consecutive years at one of the theatres in Bombay, "SHOLAY" becoming the most successful hindi movie ever. NO matter how many times is talked about Sholay, no one ever gets tired of it. A mixture of emotion, love, comedy, violence and all... Characters Jay, Veeru, BASANTI, Thakur, Gabbar et al. .

Veeru (Dharmendra) requests Jay (Amitabh) to go to Mausi and talk about his and Basanti's marriage. Jay first denied. Veeru gets mad.And, the following dialogue by Veeru and Jay.

Veeru: Maine tujhey kya samjhaa thaa Jay, lekin tu kya niklaa?? (Veeru showing his piggy face)

Jay: Sala, Nautanki. Ghadi Ghadi drama karta hein. (he was
lying near the rock, and trying to get up, holding his long boot). Chal Bus bus bahut hogayaa hein, main mausi sey jaakey baat karlungaa.

Hearing this, Veeru becomes too glad. Then, Jay, in his half tight red tee-shirt, goes to Mausi's place.

Here it goes the conversation between Mausi and Jay.

Mausi: Arey beta bus eetna samajhlon kee ghar mein jawaan beti seeney par paththar kee sheel kee tarah hotee hein, Basanti kaa byaah (marriage) hojaaye toh chyen kaa saas loo.

Jay: haa, such kahaa mausi aapne, bada bojh hein aap par.

Mausi: lekin beta ees bojh kohi kuwey pey toh fek nahin detaa. Boora nahin maanna, itna toh puchhna hee padtaa hein kay LADKEY kaa khandan kyaa hein? uskaa lakshyan kaisaa hein? kamaata kitna hain?

Jay: Kamaane kaa toh ey hein mausi kay ek baar biwi bachcho kay jimmewaari sir pey aagayee toh kamaanay bhee lagegaa.

Mausi: Toh kyaa abhee kuch bhee nahin kamaataa?

Jay: Nahin nahin ey maine ey kab kahaa mausi. Kamaataa hein lekin, AB roz roz toh aadmi jeet nahin saktaa, kabhee haar bhee jaataa hein bechaaraa.

Mausi: haar jaataa hein? : O

Jay: Haa, Mausi, ey kambakht juwaa cheeez hee aisee hein, ab main kyaa kahoon.

Mausi: Haaaan : O . Toh kyaa juwaadi hein?

Jay: chhee chhee chhee chhee, Mausi, woh aur juwaadi?? naa na, woh toh bahut achhaa aur nek ladkaa hein. Lekin Mausi ek baar sharaab pili na feer achhey boorey kaa kahaa hosh rehtaa hein. Haat pakadkar baithaaleeyaa kisine juwaa khelne. Ab ismein bechaarey Veeru kaa kyaa dosh.

Mausi: Theek kehte ho beta, juwaadi woh, sharabi woh, lekin uskaa kohi dosh nahi hein.

Jay: tab toh aap mere dosh ko galat samajh rahee hein, woh toh eetnaa sidhaa aur bholaa hein, arein !! Basanti sey uskee shaadi karkey to dekhey. Ey juwey aur sharab kee aadat toh doh- din (2 days) mein chhut jaayegi.

Mausi: arey beta, mujhey budhiyaa ko samjhaa rahein ho?? ey sharab aur juwey key aadat kisi kee chhutee hein aaj tak?

Jay: mausi, aap Veeru ko nahin jaanti. Bishwash kijiye woh ees tarah kee insaan nahin hein. Ek baar shadi hogayee toh oos gaaney waley kee ghar jana bund (stop) kardegaa, bus. Sharaab apni aap chhoot jayegi.

Mausi: Haaye Haaye !!! : O : O !! bus yehi ek kamee rehgayee thee? woh kyaa, kisi gaanewaaley kee ghar bhee aanaa-jaanaa hein?

Jay: TOh ees mein kaun see boori baat hein mausi? arey gaanaa sunne toh raja-maharaja, uchey-uchey khandan kay log jaatey hein. Haa (giving stress)

Mausi: Achhaa!! toh beta ey bhee bataake jaawo kay tumhaari ey gunwaan dosh kis khandan kay hein?

Jay: bus Mausi, khandan kaa pataa chaltey hee hum aapko khabar dedengey (speaking quickly in a convincing way).

Mausi: ek baat kee daat dungi beta, bhaley SAU (hundred) buraayeeyaa hein tumhaari dost mein, feer bhee tumhaari moo (mouth) say uskay leeye taaareef hee nikalti hein.

Jay: Haa Haa (smiling a bit), kyaa karoon mausi, mera toh dil hee aisaa hein. TOH MEIN EY RISHTAA PAKKA SAMJHOOO ?????

i recently watched it ...no doubt it is a great movie!!! The seriousness of Amitabh, beauty of Hema Malini and frightful Gabbar are simply amazing!!!

Yeah, u r rite, Rs. I watched it day before y'day only. Will gonna be another time soon. Y'day, i watched another classic and silent Vijay in Kalapathhar. Next is Sharabi (muchhey ho to nathhu lal ji jaisey ho, worna naa ho !!! )

It's good to know that you are also a fan of 'SHOLAY' frame. well, I am a crazy fan of SHOLAY frame or its characters. You believe me or not, I did watch SHOLAY more than 50 times and I still want to watch the movie when I get free time. SHOLAY always gives a bitter test, no boring to see the movie again and again.

Well, u might be knowing that DAINY DENGZONGPA was offered for the role of Gabbar at first. Later, Amjan Khan was offered. And, u also might be knowing for the role of Jay, "ever green- Dev Anand" was offered initially. Gosh!!! whut wud have happened to the movie if it were Dev Anand...

last night i watched one more classic hindi movie called Abhiman. Anyone seen that before? This movie is simple amazing!! Amitabh and jaya bhaduri are in it. Songs are awesome:) gives me goose bumps ( i guess i can be little emotional sometimes like a girl ) hehe

i really like movie sahara...or something i don't know what it's called, with mala sinha and biswajeet...very very old movie 50's ko hola. hema malini is so pretty. the songs from old hindi movies are nice...it's very pretty, the movies are a pile of cheese, very cringeful. sabai bhanda funny--kabhi kabhi ma amitabh ko chori ko naam is sweetie....HAHA!!!

RKYadav: Per ek baat jaroor hai Okinawa ji. Yeh dono itne khatarnak badmas hai ki, yin ki kahani likhi jaye to duniyan mein aur kuchh nahin hoga. Ek baar Jungle mein kuchh aaisa huwa tha. Jungle ke Sher, Bagh aur Chituyen yin ko khane ke liye gaye the par yin dono ne ulta un ko khaa dala. Dono ke dono bahut khatarnakl hai, jungle mein rahte hai aur jungli hai. Naam bhi ek kaa naam Sirupate aur dusre ka Laloopate. Jaanwaron ko yin ko khane ki bajay yeh Jaanwaron ko khaa jate hai.

hahahahaa...... Yadav ji, i give you 10/10 for your such a nice (same dialogue) creation. Btw, did you and Laloo go to watch that movie ; )
